Earth Day Celebration!

Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 to demonstrate support for the environment! Jackson County Energy District is partnering with Jackson County Conservation for an Earth Day Celebration at Prairie Creek Recreation Area in Maquoketa, IA. This FREE event is for all ages. Open House style; come and go between 4:00-7:00 PM.  

Activities/Stations include:

– see and touch live turtles and snakes

– learn how to age a tree (hands-on activity)

– get dinner from the Tri-M food truck (proceeds support the Prairie Creek Enhancement Project and the Jackson County Energy District)

– learn about the Prairie Creek Enhancement Project at the park

– make seed balls with prairie seeds

– go on a self-guided scavenger hunt along the trails

– catch critters in the pond with nets

– pick up a free tree (everyone who registered by March 15 will receive their tree; plus 50 more people!)

– and so much more!
