Jackson Co. Energy District “Jazz Dinner” a Huge Success

On a cold but clear evening on December 10, 2019, the Jackson Co. Energy District held its first fund raiser.  Fifty distinguished Iowans attended the program, which was held at the Maquoketa County Club. A formal dinner was catered and served by Tri-M BBQ.  The dinner along with a selection of complimentary wines drew rave reviews.

The program agenda included several Board Member presentations regarding the Energy District Mission and preliminary plans.  Representing Clean Energy Districts of Iowa, Joleen Jansen briefly shared the history of the Energy District Movement and some of the impressive early results achieved in neighboring Iowa counties.  Finally, State Representative Andy McKeen presented a legislative update on matters related to sustainability and clean energy. Entertainment by the Jacob Pembelton Trio from the University of Iowa was interspersed with the program throughout the evening. The Trio offered a delightful array of holiday tunes along with jazz standards, which kept the attendees talking and swaying well into the evening and after the program had formally concluded. In the end, almost $5,000 was generously invested as seed funding to get the Energy District off the ground.
